The film will be based on Charlie Huston’s novel, which follows the story of burnt-out former baseball player Hank Thompson (Butler).
Hank’s neighbor Russ has to leave town in a hurry and hands over his cat, named Bud, in a carrier. But it’s not until two Russians in tracksuits drag Hank to the bar of the place where he works and beat him up that he begins to get an idea: someone wants something from him. But he doesn’t know what it is, where it is, or how to make them understand that he doesn’t have it.
Within twenty-four hours, Hank is running across rooftops, swinging his old aluminum bat at the exact spot on a guy’s head, playing hide-and-seek with the NYPD, riding the subway with a dead man at his side, and counting a pile of cash on a concrete floor…
Aronofsky hires Huston to adapt the book for the big screen.
