Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck seem one step closer to filing for divorce.
According to TMZ, the embattled spouses have hired real estate agent Santiago Arana to help them sell the $60 million Beverly Hills mansion they bought a little over a year ago.
A source tells this same website that Lopez is already looking for a new residence as well.
Amid all the speculation that Lopez and Affleck are nearing the end of their marriage, this would be the most concrete sign yet that things are going very wrong.
The aforementioned real estate agent has reportedly been gauging interest in the massive home for about two weeks, which lines up with how long speculation about Bennifer’s disappearance has been running rampant on the internet.
In mid-May, for example, In Touch Weekly wrote that a divorce between the couple was “imminent.”
The tabloid explained at the time that López had hired both a public relations firm and well-known divorce lawyer while considering whether or not to cut the romantic and legal thread of her last union.
Affleck and Lopez went more than two months without being photographed in public earlier this spring.
They’ve made occasional appearances in recent days (attending a play together featuring one of Affleck’s children, for example), but this hasn’t stopped rumors from swirling.
HARD.
“They’re not always on the same page,” a source previously told Entertainment Tonight, keeping things pretty vague and adding:
“They both have a lot going on between caring for their families and their work commitments and it can be a lot for them.”
In Mexico City to promote his new film late last month, López was asked about a pending divorce.
“You know better,” he told the journalist who dared to bring up the topic at a press conference, refusing to give more details.
To be clear, neither actor has commented on the growing speculation.
But this real estate stock seems to speak louder than almost any of its words.
Lopez and Affleck dated from 2002 to 2004, and even got engaged back then before calling it off.
They both also married other people in the many years that followed.
But the celebrities rekindled their romance in 2021 and then eloped in Las Vegas in July 2022… before hosting a star-studded wedding at Affleck’s resort outside Savannah, Georgia.
It seemed like a real fairy tale.
But now we are forced to wonder if the relationship has turned into a nightmare.
“They will never stop loving each other, but she can’t control him and he can’t change her,” In Touch recently reported, concluding simply:
“There’s no way it would have lasted.”
