Wild Robot writer-director Chris Sanders at the VIEW 2024 conference


The creative team behind “The wild robot”, directed by the writer and director Chris Sanderswill be discussing the making of the film at this fall’s event. VIEW Conference In Turin, Italy, the week-long, English-language event celebrates its 25th anniversary by hosting talks, workshops and masterclasses with top talent in film, television, animation, visual effects and video games.

Sanders, whose credits include “Lilo & Stitch,” “How to Train Your Dragon” and “The Croods,” will attend the conference alongside Raymond Zibach, the film’s production designer, and visual effects supervisor Jeff Budsberg. The story, adapted from Peter Brown’s novel, follows the adventures of a robot (voiced by Lupita Nyong’o) who learns to coexist with wildlife after being shipwrecked on an uninhabited island.

Also in attendance will be “Transformers One” director Josh Cooley, who will present a master class at the conference, which runs Oct. 14-19. The film, from Paramount Animation and Hasbro, tells the origin story of Optimus Prime and Megatron. Cooley is best known for his work on the Pixar films “The Incredibles,” “Ratatouille,” “Up” and “Inside Out” and for directing the Oscar-winning “Toy Story 4.”

This year, short films will be the focus of the conference. Among the filmmakers who will be speaking about their short films are Loïc Espuche (“Beurk!”), Christian Arredondo Narvaez and Diego Alonso Sánchez de la Barquera (“NUBE”). In addition, Joseph Wallace, best known for his animated short film “Salvation Has No Name,” will present “Handmade Fantasies: The Stop Motion Worlds of Joseph Wallace” on the event stage.

Previously announced speakers include “Inside Out 2” director Kelsey Mann, “Ultraman: Rising” director Shannon Tindle, “Dune: Part Two” visual effects pros Paul Lambert and Patrick Heinen, “Fallout” overall visual effects supervisor Jay Worth, fantasy artist Jesper Ejsing, production artist/designer Pascal Campion and Industrial Light & Magic chief creative director Rob Bredow.
