Meta’s annual Connect conference is almost here, and if you’re interested in new hardware, you’re in luck.
While much of the conference will likely focus on the company’s AI efforts, at least two devices should debut: a new Quest headset and new smart glasses.

First of all, if you’ve been on the fence about trying the Meta Quest 3 and the recent The $25 a month deal wasn’t enoughGood news is on the way: a more affordable, stripped-down version of the Quest 3 is apparently on the way.
We don’t know exactly what the difference will be between the Quest 3 and the new headset (rumored to be the 3S), as Meta has been very tight-lipped and there have been no leaks either, but we can make some educated guesses as to what it will be. No be.
Given that full color passthrough is one of the biggest advancements of the Quest 3 over the Quest 2, it would be odd to see Meta take a step back on that, and it probably wouldn’t be a smaller storage version either, as the 128GB size It’s not enough for some people anymore.
Marco Gurman says the 3S will likely cost between $300 and $400, which is at least $100 less than the $500 price of the Quest 3. Meta’s biggest advantage over Apple Vision Pro up to this point is the Price differenceAnd this new device only widens that gap.
Gurman says Meta’s other big hardware announcement will be a sneak peek at its in-development augmented reality (AR) smart glasses. Glasses are not new territory for Meta, as it has partnered with Ray-Ban to produce smart glassesbut those are not AR.

Gurman notes that since introducing augmented reality involves adding a camera, more computing power, and perhaps a display of some kind, creating lightweight AR glasses that can be worn all day is no easy feat. He adds that since Apple has struggled to do so, Meta appears to be ahead of the game.
The plan for this year’s Connect conference appears to be for Meta to show off new AI software that will power current Ray-Bans, introduce some new color and style options for Ray-Bans, and show off a prototype of its upcoming AR glasses.
Meta Connect 2024 It will take place on September 25 and 26.
