Let me show you how to install and use this extension.

Installing Enhancer for YouTube

What you will need: The only thing you will need for this task is a running instance of Firefox. Of course, you can also install this extension on other browsers. Let’s start with the Firefox installation.

On the Enhancer for YouTube page, click the “Add to Firefox” button. You will then be prompted to accept the installation. Click OK and the extension will be added.

It is not necessary to pin the extension, but this action makes it easier to access the Settings page.

Enhancer Settings for YouTube

Click the Enhancer for YouTube icon in the toolbar to open the settings page. From this page, you can configure all aspects of the extension. I recommend selecting which controls you want to add or remove from the YouTube player control toolbar and the default playback quality for videos, playlists, and the pop-out player. You can select anything between 144p and 4320p 8K. I usually set the playback quality to 1440p HD or 2160p 4K (depending on the display you use).

There are more options here than you probably imagined were available for YouTube.

All changes are saved immediately, so there is no need to click Save. Once you have made all the necessary changes, you can close the Settings window.

How to use Enhancer for YouTube

When you open a YouTube video, you’ll see a new toolbar below the video that includes all the controls you added from Settings. This toolbar gives you much more control over your videos than YouTube normally offers.

A very useful feature is the Filters option. Once you’ve added that option to the default list of controls, click the button while watching a video and a small pop-up window will appear that allows you to control Gaussian blur, brightness, contrast, grayscale, hue rotation, color inversion, saturation, and sepia. These options are useful when you’re watching a video that doesn’t look right. You can modify the video to suit your screen and your eyes.

Adjusting filters can make for a much better viewing experience.
