Long before By Peter Jackson The Lord of the rings The trilogy, JRR Tolkien’s work, came to the screen in animated form, first in 1977. The Hobbit And then in 1978 The Lord of the rings and the 1980s The return of the King. So in a sense the new Lord of the Rings movie, The War of the RohirrimIt’s a return to the franchise’s roots, at least on screen.
Directed by Kenji Kamiyama, the film serves as a prequel to Jackson’s trilogy (he is also attached to the film as an executive producer). It is set nearly 200 years before the films at the place known as Helm’s Deep; essentially, this is the story of how it got its name. The voice cast includes Brian Coxplaying “Helm Hammerhand, the mighty King of Rohan.” As far as we know at this time, the only actor from Jackson’s saga Lord of the Rings Reprising her role here is Miranda Otto, who plays Éowyn, Rohan’s shieldmaiden.
The film is set to hit theaters in about six months, and we’re finally starting to see some actual footage from the film, including the image at the top of this piece and the three directly below it.

Here is the official synopsis for the new animated film:
Set 183 years before the events of the original film trilogy, “The Lord of the Rings: War of the Rohirrim” follows the fate of the House of Helm Hammerhand, the legendary King of Rohan. A sudden attack by Wulf, a cunning and ruthless Dunlending lord seeking revenge for his father’s death, forces Helm and his people to make a daring last stand at the ancient fortress of the Hornburg – a mighty stronghold that would later become known as Helm’s Deep. With the situation becoming increasingly desperate, Helm’s daughter Héra must summon the will to lead the resistance against a deadly enemy that seeks to destroy them completely.
The Lord of the Rings: The War of the Rohirrim It is scheduled to be released in theaters on December 13.
