I grew up reading the original. Brave Comicsand the new publishing house Darques: Side of the soul It was the reinvention I didn’t know I needed. Valiant is moving forward Resurgenceand the new one The Darques: Side of the soul is another solid entry in the initiative. It humanizes the villain and, while it stops short of making him a sympathetic character, it gives fans the best look yet at what motivates Darque.
The Darques: Side of the soul Issue #1 is written by Fred Van Lente and drawn by Sebastian Cabrol. A two-page spread brings the reader up to speed on Master Darque and his sister before they join them on the Soul Side. There, Darque lives a decidedly different life than he does on Earth. On the Soul Side, he is almost respected and considered a healer. Very few on the Soul Side know Darque’s true intentions and motivations. Van Lente and Cabrol make Darque a man of contradictions: loving brother, healer… and psychopathic sorcerer.
They use this tension to great effect, tapping into the depths of Darque’s psyche.
Valiant has great heroes… and great villains

Valiant is well known for its stable of heroes, such as Bloodshot and XO Manowar. However, the publisher also features some of the best villains in comics, including Toyo Harada and Master Darque. Darque appeared in the first incarnation of the Valiant Universe, in the early 1990s. He was created to be a major enemy not only for Shadowman, but also for other Valiant heroes. Darque made the jump to the new Valiant Universe in the mid-2010s, where he was introduced to the Valiant Universe. He once again threatened ShadowmanIn the new Valiant Universe, Darque has a sister as powerful as he is.
The aforementioned dichotomy between Darque’s life on Earth and his life in the Soulside adds a new, humanizing layer to the classic villain.
The Darques: Side of the soul Issue #1 is another solid installment from Valiant Comics. The publisher, which recently partnered with Alien Books, gave its line a boost with the upcoming issue. Resurgence. While The Darques: Side of the soul Number 1 offers no obvious clues as to Darque’s role in Resurgenceserves as a compelling, standalone character study. The aforementioned dichotomy between Darque’s life on Earth and his life on the Soul Side adds a new, humanizing layer to the classic villain. Van Lente and Cabrol delve deeper into Darque’s life, showing what made him the monster he is today.
Master Darque Has a Depth That Was Lacking in the Previous Valiant Universe
It makes him a more complete villain.
In the first version of the Valiant Universe, Master Darque was portrayed as a horrifying presence, willing to corrupt or kill anyone who stood in his way. He held particular power over Shadowman. While this rivalry was imported towards the new Valiant UniverseIt hasn’t been the only characteristic that drives and defines Darque. He is very devoted to his sister and manages to do good for the creatures of the Soulside. This twisted tension not only drives Of brave onesThe Darques: Side of the soul #1, but it refreshes this character in a way I didn’t know he needed.
