Please note: The Analogue Pocket will be available in an aluminum design

While it’s been on the market for quite some time, the Analogue Pocket has provided a way for retro gaming enthusiasts to revisit their favorite Gameboy games, thanks to some sleek-looking hardware that also packs some impressive internals.

With that in mind, Analogue has announced an upcoming aluminum edition of the Analogue Pocket, which will now feature an all-metal chassis instead of its original plastic design. This is a limited edition that will be available in indigo, natural (silver), noir (dark grey), and black.

Released in 2021, the Analogue Pocket features native hardware support for Game Boy, Game Boy Color, and Game Boy Advance games, so it doesn’t require emulation, unlike cheaper retro handheld consoles. However, unlike the original Game Boy models, it features more modern specs, such as a high-resolution backlit display, a sleeker look, and support for non-Nintendo handheld games.

It should be noted that this new version will also be more expensive than the original, priced at $500 (down from the usual $219). Pre-orders for the Analoge Pocket Aluminum Edition begin at 8 a.m. Pacific Time/11 a.m. Eastern Time on July 15.
