When you are setting up your smart HouseYou’re not short of options to choose from. And as long as everything you use is compatible with Google Home, you’re largely free to mix and match smart switches, plugs, and lights from different manufacturers. But as much as we love having that kind of flexibility, there’s also a lot to be said for finding a company you really like and going all in on their ecosystem—that way, everything aligns not just in terms of functionality, but also design, making for a really cohesive look and feel. One of our favorite solutions of this kind is Philips Hue from Signify, and today we’re reviewing the next phase of its smart lighting hardware.

Smart bulbs are a great way to retrofit an existing lamp or fixture, but if you’re adding lights in a new place or are just interested in a fresh new look, Philips has tons of fully integrated smart lamps, and with modern LEDs, it’s not like you’ll have to change many bulbs anyway. To those existing offerings, we’ll soon be able to add the new Hue Tento Lineas reported by Hue’s Blog.

The name of the game here really seems to be affordability, and with Tento already listed Over on Philips Hue’s international sites, it’s clear just how much these products outperform existing Hue ceiling lighting solutions, starting at just €70 (~$76). Even at that relatively low price, there’s a fair amount of variety in terms of hardware here, with seven distinct offerings, across three sizes. You can choose from full RGB color in 29.1, 42.1, or 54.2cm sizes, or “ambient white,” which just gives you control over the color temperature, in the same three sizes. And if you just want to keep it simple, there’s a single 29.1cm option available in regular, antique, non-adjustable white.

It’s not yet clear which markets Signify might bring these Tento lamps to and what the price might be there, but if we do see them come to the US, the price is likely to top out at $230 for the largest full-color Tento. Oh, and speaking of colors, the frames on all of these lamps will be available in either black or white.

We’ll be curious to see how those sales take off, as this represents an intriguing and affordable option for adding professional-looking smart lighting to your home.
