Google will continue selling the original Pixel Fold

Earlier this week, Google made the Pixel 9 family official, and this includes the Pixel 9 Pro foldablethe successor to last year’s original Pixel foldFollowing the event, the Google Store has marked the Pixel Fold as “no longer available,” but that apparently won’t be the case for long.

While we wouldn’t have been at all surprised if Google decided to discontinue the Pixel Fold in light of the launch of its successor, that’s apparently not the case. A statement from Google clarifies the fact that the Pixel Fold will indeed be making a comeback.

The company will be selling the Pixel Fold again, starting after the Pixel 9 Pro Fold becomes available, which will happen on September 4. So if you’ve somehow been dying to get your hands on a Pixel Fold but didn’t get around to it before this week, rest assured that you’ll have another chance starting in early September.

Google hasn’t revealed whether the original Pixel Fold will be getting a discount now that its successor is on the market, but we’re guessing the company could knock $100 or something off of it. Not enough to boost sales, but enough that people can’t complain about the lack of a price cut. It’s Apple’s way, and we don’t see any reason why Google wouldn’t emulate it.
