Edward Bluemel joins Netflix’s Seven Dials Mystery show about Agatha Christie

Edward BluemelThe “Killing Eve” and “Sex Education” star most recently seen as the brooding love interest in Amazon’s alternate history fantasy “My Lady Jane,” has joined the cast of Netflix‘s coming soon Christie Agatha series “The mystery of the seven spheres.”

Bluemel joins Mia McKenna-Bruce, the revelation of “How to have sex”WHO Variety announced last month would headline the crime novel, written by “Broadchurch” creator and former “Doctor Who” showrunner Chris Chibnall.

Set in 1925, “The Seven Dials Mystery” tells the story of a lavish party at a country house where a prank seems to have gone horribly wrong. The inquisitive Lady Eileen “Bundle” Brent (McKenna-Bruce) will have to unravel a chilling plot that will change her life and unravel the mystery of the country house. Bluemel will play Jimmy Thesiger, a charming and witty man who becomes Bundle’s ally in the murder investigation. Helena Bonham Carter and Martin Freeman will also star in the film.

The series is produced by Suzanne Mackie (The Crown) under her Orchid Pictures banner and Chris Sussman (Good Omens). Chris Sweeney (The Tourist, Back to Life) will direct and also serve as executive producer.

Chibnall will executive produce the show through his Imaginary Friends banner, and Agatha Christie Limited’s James Prichard is also executive producing the series. Andy Stebbing is on board as executive producer and Joanna Crow will serve as series producer. “The Seven Dials Mystery” is the first announced series from Orchid, which Mackie created in 2020 under a deal with Netflix after a 12-year stint at “The Crown” production company Left Bank Pictures.

In addition to “The Seven Dials Mystery,” Bluemel also has a lead role in the upcoming Hulu miniseries “Washington Black” alongside Sterling K. Brown, and will next be seen in the BBC drama “We Might Regret This.” He is repped by Sugar23, Hamilton Hodell, Sloane Offer Weber & Dern and Viewpoint.
