With Meta’s acquisition of WhatsApp a while back, it was only a matter of time before we saw Facebook Messenger features coming to WhatsApp, and it looks like an upcoming feature for the app shares a lot in common with its Facebook-powered counterpart.
More specifically, a new beta version of WhatsApp for Android devices includes support for chat themes, something that has already been available on Facebook Messenger for quite some time. The beta version comes with build number 2.24.17.19. The feature thus allows users to choose a chat theme that swaps out the chat wallpaper and message colors.

WhatsApp hasn’t made any “official” announcements about this upcoming feature, though some predict it could be available to Android users by the end of the year. That said, users who want to try out WhatsApp’s beta features on Android will need to sign up for the beta program, though enrollment isn’t available to all users at all times.
