The Park Hotel Tokyo is almost like staying in an art museum. If you're looking for a unique and quirky place to stay, this is it! On one of my recent trips to Tokyo, we stayed in one of the Artist Rooms for three nights. Here's my take on how it went.
Park Hotel Tokyo offers art-filled hospitality in the clouds. Not only will you find artwork throughout the hotel, but some of the rooms are works of art in themselves. Park Hotel Tokyo features over 40 artist rooms, where professional artists have painted directly onto the walls, creating some of the most unique hotel rooms I have ever seen.
With beautiful views of Tokyo Tower, two on-site restaurants and a cocktail bar, Park Hotel Tokyo is a fantastic and unique place to stay in Tokyo. We had the chance to stay in one of their new Artist Rooms, which turned out to be a wonderful experience. Here's what we felt.

Location of the Park Hotel
Park Hotel Tokyo is located in the Shiodome business district in Minato, Tokyo. It is relatively easy to reach by public transportation, with Shiodome and Shimbashi stations are within walking distance.From there, you can reach almost anywhere in Tokyo with several subway lines. Thanks to the proximity to these stations, it is also easy to get there from anywhere. Haneda or Narita Airport.
To get to the hotel, you'll need to enter the Shiodome Media Tower, but it's easy to find as there's an elevator exclusively for Park Hotel guests. As the hotel itself starts at the 25th floorThe views are impeccable. There is also a Family Mart convenience store in the basement of the tower.
Lobby of the Park Hotel
Once you have taken the elevator up to the 25th floor of the building, you will have arrived at the lobby of the Park Hotel. The 10-story atrium with wood paneling and a large glass roof immediately impresses: art is displayed on the walls and a striking View of Tokyo Tower It stands out for its floor-to-ceiling windows on the side.
The artworks on display in the lobby are part of constantly changing exhibitions. It's almost like visiting an elegant art gallery rather than a hotel lobby.
In front of the large windows, you can find comfortable armchairs to enjoy the views of Tokyo skylineVending machines available allow you to pick up free teas and coffees, or pay by the glass to enjoy a fine selection of wines, beers and sake.
On this floor there is also the restaurants on siteHanasanshou and ART colors Dining, together with the hotel cocktail bar called The Society.
We checked in at the reception desk and headed to the elevator, ready to see our room. The hallways on each floor also function as art galleries.where you can see multiple art exhibitions. The names of the current exhibitions on each floor are displayed in the elevator. There are even pieces for sale!
Our room at the Park Hotel
The Park Hotel Tokyo has 270 rooms In total, most of them are luxurious rooms and suites with beautiful views of the city. But what makes this hotel even more special are its Artist Rooms.
In line with the hotel's motto “Infinite time and space amidst renowned Japanese beauty”, the More than 40 rooms for artists The rooms at the Park Hotel are a work of art in themselves. Each room has been hand painted by an artist, directly onto the walls. Each of the rooms is unique and has its own theme, allowing you to stay in a room unlike any other.
Richard and I were the first people to stay in the “Birds and Animals in the City” room, which opened on April 17. Created by the artist Yuji KanamuraThis piece is a tribute to the Edo period painter Ito Jakuchu. The animals are intertwined with the cityscape. The more we looked at the walls, the more animals we could find. Even after three days of being here, we were still finding new hidden pieces.
The room itself is one of The largest and most comfortable rooms. I found it in Tokyo. King-sized beds are hard to find in Tokyo, and it was a very welcome feature after the long, busy days exploring Tokyo. With the blinds open, you can enjoy the dazzling lights of Tokyo city from the bed, or you can choose to sit in the armchairs by the window to enjoy the view.
In the room you will also find a desk, more than enough space for your luggage (which is a luxury in itself in Tokyo) and a spacious bathroom with a large bathtub.
Dinner at the Park Hotel
Park Hotel Tokyo features two restaurants and a cocktail bar. Hanasanshou The restaurant focuses more on Japanese-style kaiseki dining, while the Colors ART Dining Room The restaurant has a more contemporary menu, including pizzas, pastas and fish.
During our stay, we had the pleasure of enjoying a delicious seven course meal At Hanasanshou Restaurant, Chef Motomichi Sekiguchi crafts a beautiful menu using fresh, seasonal ingredients.
The dishes consisted of a variety of Japanese classics, such as fresh sashimi, tempura, grilled Wagyu beef, and more. Each meal was perfectly prepared. Our waitress explained each dish to us as she served it, making sure we could enjoy it to the fullest. The Wagyu was particularly tasty.
We dined as the sun was setting over Tokyo. As we were seated next to the restaurant's large windows, it was a pleasure to watch.
In the mornings, the ART colors Dining restaurant is transformed into an elegant breakfast room. Guests can choose between the American breakfast (including eggs, bacon, sausages, vegetables and some fried potatoes) and the Fresh Morning breakfast (including fruits, salad, soy milk soup and rice flour bread).
Regardless of the menu you choose, you will also have access to a buffet breakfast. A wide variety of juices, coffees and teas are available.
Review of Park Hotel Tokyo
Overall, we thoroughly enjoyed our three nights at the Park Hotel Tokyo. The beautiful decor throughout the building, including the gallery hallways and the lounge area with views of Tokyo Tower, made our stay relaxing.
Having the opportunity to stay in one of the Artist Rooms was amazing and something I highly recommend if you are looking for a more unique hotel room in Tokyo. I would love to go back and stay in another one of their Artist Rooms for sure.
