ChatGPT It is capable of doing many different things very well. One of the most notable features is its ability to compose all kinds of texts in a matter of seconds, including songs, poems, bedtime stories and Essays.
Chatbot writing skills are not only fun to experiment with, but they can also help provide assistance with everyday tasks. Whether you’re a student, a working professional, or just trying to get things done, we constantly take the time to compose emails, text messages, reports, and more. Contrary to popular belief, ChatGPT can do much more than just write an essay from scratch (which would be considered plagiarism). A more useful way to use the chatbot is to have it guide you through the writing process.
Below we show you how to use ChatGPT for both writing and support, and include some other helpful writing tips.
How ChatGPT can help you write an essay
If you want to use ChatGPT to back up or replace your typing, here are five different techniques to explore.
It is also worth noting before we begin that other AI Chatbots can generate the same results as ChatGPT or even better, depending on your needs. For example, Co-pilot, Perplexityand Gemini They also have internet access and include footnotes that link to the original source of all their responses, making chatbots solid alternatives if you’d rather skip ChatGPT.

Regardless of which AI chatbot you choose, you can use the following tips to get the most out of your indications and AI assistance.
Before you begin writing an essay, you need to get your idea down. When teachers assign essays, they usually give students a prompt that gives them room for self-expression and analysis.
As a result, students are left with the task of finding the angle from which to approach the essay on their own. If you have written an essay recently, you will know that finding the angle is often the trickiest part, and this is where ChatGPT can help.

All you have to do is enter the topic of the assignment, include all the details you want (such as what you plan to cover) and let ChatGPT do the rest. For example, based on an assignment I was given at university, I asked:
Can you help me come up with an idea for this topic? “You will write a research paper or case study on a leadership topic of your choice.” I would like it to include Blake and Mouton’s managerial leadership grid and possibly a historical figure.
Within seconds, the chatbot produced a response that provided me with the title of the essay, options for historical figures to focus on in my paper, information on what information I could include in my paper, and specific examples from a case study I could use.
Once you have a solid topic, it’s time to start thinking about what you actually want to include in the essay. To make the writing process easier, I always create an outline that includes all the different points I want to address in my essay. However, the process of writing the outline is often tedious.
With ChatGPT, all you have to do is ask it to write the outline for you.
Using the topic that ChatGPT helped me generate in step one, I asked the chatbot to write me an outline saying:
Can you create an outline for an article titled “Examining Abraham Lincoln’s Leadership Style Through Blake and Mouton’s Managerial Leadership Grid”?

After a few seconds, the chatbot produced a holistic outline divided into seven sections, with three bullet points under each section.
This outline is thorough and can be condensed for a shorter essay or expanded for a longer paper. If you don’t like something or want to further modify the outline, you can do so manually or with further instructions for ChatGPT.
If you want ChatGPT to include links and sources throughout the text, you can request this and it will regenerate the response using your web browsing functionfurther streamlining the process of writing your essay.
Now that you know exactly what you want to write, it’s time to find reliable sources for your information. If you don’t know where to start, you can ask ChatGPT.
All you have to do is ask the AI to find sources for your essay topic. The most important thing to remember is to include the type of source you want, whether it’s websites, books, PDFs, research, articles, etc.

The details are necessary because when you specify web pages, ChatGPT activates the web browsing feature and includes web links in your article. However, if you use a very general message, it is likely to generate the response by default from its database, which is not up to date.
For example, I asked the following:
“Examining Abraham Lincoln’s Leadership Style Through Blake and Mouton’s Managerial Leadership Grid.”
The chatbot generates links, which can be accessed at the top of the response, in the dropdown menu that says “Number of sites searched.” Then, within the response, it will answer your question in a conversational manner, also including sources with site names and links in parentheses.
It is worth noting that if you take text directly from the chatbot and submit it, your work could be considered plagiarism, as it is not your original work. As with any information taken from another source, AI-generated text should be identified and credited to the chatbot in your work.
In most educational institutions, the penalties for plagiarism are severe, ranging from a failing grade to expulsion from school. A better use of ChatGPT’s writing features would be to create a sample essay to guide your writing.

If you still want ChatGPT to create an essay from scratch, enter the topic and the desired length. For example, I entered the following text:
Can you write a five-paragraph essay on the topic “Examining Abraham Lincoln’s Leadership Style through Blake and Mouton’s Managerial Leadership Grid”?
Within seconds, the chatbot provided me with exactly the result I needed: a coherent five-paragraph essay on the topic. I could then use that text to guide my own writing.
At this point, it is worth remembering How tools like ChatGPT workThey put words together in a way that they think is statistically valid, but they don’t know if what they are saying is true or accurate.
As a result, the output you receive may include fabricated facts, details, or other oddities. The output can be a useful starting point for your own work, but don’t expect it to be completely accurate and always double-check the content.
Once you have written your own essay, you can use ChatGPT’s advanced writing capabilities to edit it for you.
You can simply tell the chatbot what you want it to edit. For example, I asked ChatGPT to edit our five-paragraph essay for structure and grammar, but other options could have included fluency, tone, and more.

Once you ask the tool to edit your essay, it will ask you to paste the text into the chatbot. ChatGPT will then generate your essay with the corrections made. This feature is particularly useful because ChatGPT edits your essay more thoroughly than a basic proofreading tool, going beyond just checking spelling.
You can also edit together with the chatbot and ask it to review a specific paragraph or sentence and rewrite or correct the text to make it clearer. Personally, I find this feature very useful.
