Samsung officially announces the Galaxy Watch FE

After weeks and months of leaks on the internet, Samsung has finally decided to introduce the Samsung Galaxy Watch FE, its first budget wearable in its line of FE devices. With a starting price of $200 for the base model (and $250 for the LTE variant), the device comes with some nifty features at a more affordable price.

In terms of design, the Galaxy Watch FE looks a lot like the base model Galaxy Watch 4, as Samsung has decided to stick to a design that’s familiar (if not broken, as they say). It’s available in black, rose gold, and silver, with an aluminum casing surrounding a 1.2-inch Super AMOLED touchscreen. As with most Wear OS devices, it also comes with 5ATM + IP68 certification for added water resistance.

As for the internals, the device comes with Samsung’s Exynos W920 chip, along with 1.5GB of RAM and 16GB of app storage. On the software front, the watch launches with One UI 5 Watch with access to a suite of Samsung-exclusive software along with basic Google products. There’s also a 247mAh battery, which should be able to power the device for a day of use.

The Galaxy Watch FE also has a host of sensors on board, including a Samsung bioactive sensor (optical heart rate + electrical heart + bioelectrical impedance analysis), accelerometer, barometer, gyro sensor, geomagnetic sensor, and a light sensor. It will arrive at the end of June, with the LTE version scheduled for release in the fall.
