Actor: Jodie Foster had a breakthrough with her role as Iris Steensma in Taxi Driver, for which she received her first Academy Award nomination. Hank turned out to be involved in some bad things from the past and worked to cover it up.

Character: Sharing a long history with Liz Danvers, Ted Connellyis a politically inclined “animal” and the regional Chief of Police. Connelly showed up in Ennis, Alaska, when he learned the missing scientists had been found buried in ice. He wanted to push the case to Anchorage, where they had more resources to use, but Danvers pushed back and wanted to keep the case there, so they didn’t have to manipulate the bodies until they thawed. He and Danvers have a sexual relationship as well.

Character: With a mysterious past and a possible connection to a character from season 1, Rose Aguineau is the local woman who found the bodies of the missing scientists. She told the police that she followed the ghost of her dead lover Travis onto the ice, and that is where she found the bodies. She is a survivalist and a friend to the entire Ennis community. When he was a child, he fell through the ice, and his father was able to break through and get him out, staying with him until he made it to get medical attention. Aka Niviâna as Julia – Newcomer Aka Niviâna debuts in True Detective as Julia – Navarro’s sister battling demons from her past and within her. This is Niviâna’s first acting credit. She previously served as a runner for the critically acclaimed series Borgen – a political drama about a prime minister’s rise to power, starring Sidse Babbett Knudsen in the lead.
Klaus Tange as Otis Heiss – Introduced in True Detective: Night Country episode 4, Otis Heiss immediately arouses suspicion. He is played by Danish actor Klaus Tange, who is best known for a recurring role in the Netflix sci-fi series Tribes of Europa. He has over 35 years of experience under his belt and has worked in movies such as A Royal Affair as a Minister and in the Gentlemen & Gangsters miniseries.
Nivi Pedersen as Annie Kowtuk – Despite being murdered years before the disappearance of the scientists, activist Annie K is somehow connected to the main True Detective season 4 mystery. She is played by Nivi Pedersen, who starred as Emmy Rasmussen in Borgen. She has very few credits to her name, with most of them coming in movies and TV shows from Sweden. She appeared in seven episodes of the series Thin Ice in 2020.
Owen McDonnell as Raymond Clark – A former romantic partner of Annie K, Raymond Clark instantly arouses suspicion after the disappearance of his fellow scientists and his association with the mysterious True Detective spiral. The Irish researcher is played by Owen McDonnell, who featured in Killing Eve as Niko Polastri. He also had roles in the 2023 BBC Great Expectations adaptation, the 2022 Netflix movie Lave & Gelato, and the British crime drama The Bay in 2021.
Isabella Star LaBlancas Leah – Isabella Star LaBlanc portrays Danvers’ stepdaughter Leah, who is struggling to find her voice and identity. LaBlanc has previously starred in a recurring role in the drama series Long Slow Exhale as Elfrina. She was also an extra on the series In An Instant. Other than that, she has no other movie or TV credits.
Joel D. Montgrand as Eddie Qavvik – Joel D. Montgrand plays Eddie Qavvik, a local musher with deep connections and Navarro’s love interest in True Detective season 4. Montgrand is best known for his role as Hakoda in Avatar: The Last Airbender. He also appeared in the award-winning film Beans as Kania’tariio. Fans might also remember him from episodes of Bates Motel, iZombie, and Legends of Tomorrow.
