Is Denzel Washington Is he looking to pull back the curtain on his time in front of the camera? He’s certainly hinting at that.
In A new interview with EmpireWashington stressed the fact that “there are very few films left to be made that interest me, and I have to be inspired by the filmmaker.”
All of which points to the fact that she’s starting to feel like she’s said all she can on camera and isn’t looking to maintain that aspect of her career forever.
Of course, actors (and directors) talk about retirement, but they often return to work – for each Gene Hackman (who has not acted in years), there is a Steven Soderbergh (who announced that he would stop directing films, but soon returned).

What’s going on with Denzel Washington?

With Denzel, it’s a little less clear.
In June, at the Miami Beach American Black Film Festival, Washington spoke about the possibility of being able to leave acting and focus on directing, where he has had success with films such as ‘Fences‘ and ‘The great debaters.’
This was Washington’s statement at the time:
“What happens to me professionally behind the camera is just as important to me now as what happens in front of it. I think I will spend less and less time in front of the camera.”

Despite all the talk about his retirement, he still has a lot of work and is busy.
The next step for the actor on the release schedule is Ridley Scott‘s’Gladiator II‘.

Washington plays Macrinus, a wealthy arms dealer who wants to be emperor and is willing to do anything to get it.
He was clearly happy with his latest collaboration with Scott:
“The first time was a great experience and here we are. He is engaged. He is excited about life and his next film. He is an inspiration. We should all want to feel like that at 86.”
‘Gladiator’ 2 will be released in theaters on November 22.
