Colbert and company couldn’t help themselves.
They heard Cassidy Hutchinson, a former Trump White House staffer, describe a surreal scene related to January 6, 2021, and couldn’t wait to spread it on their respective platforms.
Did it matter that it seemed fictional from the start? Not for these brave satirists who “speak truth to power.” On the other hand, this same troupe promoted the Russian collusion hoax for years without offering a single mea culpa.
In their defense, the media also refused to apologize to President Donald Trump or the American public.
The fake news in question? That President Trump violently attempted to seize the steering wheel from a Secret Service agent in order to direct the car to the U.S. Capitol that day.
Jimmy Fallon, who was Bullied into becoming a night progressive after disheveling Trump in 2016, led the parade.
“It’s always good when you need another Secret Service to protect the Secret Service, you know what I mean? Immediately the agents said, ‘Who the hell let him out of his car seat?’”
Stephen Colbert, famous for his program “The Late Show”, joined the group.
“He went for the throat. When you go into the Secret Service, you know you have to take punishment from the president, but you never expect to get punished by the president.”
Low-rated Trevor Noah added his own opinion via “The Daily Show.”
“He’s attacking the one person who can’t hit back. Yes, they can hit back, but then they have to get ahead of their own punch. Not to blame the victim, but this is the Secret Service’s responsibility, OK? You had four years to protect that vehicle from Trump — you knew who you were dealing with. There should have been a toy steering wheel in the passenger seat the whole time. Just let him think he’s driving and go back to the West Wing anyway.”
Kimmel later threw softballs at Hutchinson during his one-on-one interview with her.
Reality quickly crushed Hutchinson’s story.
The source of her gossip flatly denied that it happened as she described, but the various presenters did not have time to correct the story.
Then or now.
A new report from the Inspector General on January 6 confirmed that the attack at the wheel It never happened.
The “source” of Hutchinson’s gossip was, he claimed, former Secret Service agent turned Trump White House deputy chief of staff Tony Ornato. Ornato says he never witnessed the event, let alone told him about it.
Additionally, the redacted Inspector General report says it took more than four months for the Secret Service to make itself available to the public, where it reiterated that this Trump episode never occurred. The other Secret Service agents who were in the car said Trump never lunged at the driver, though one reported that he was angry about not being able to go.
Why would they apologize to Orange Man Bad… or to us? They like lies late at night. who denigrate their political enemies. It is a clown nose that has been put on… and then taken off.

What makes the steering wheel story even worse in light of recent events? Secret Service agents appear Less than enthusiastic about Trump.
Don’t expect to hear any reference to Hutchinson’s testimony tonight or later this week on any late-night talk shows.
