Katie Price receives arrest warrant for failing to appear in court

An arrest warrant has been issued for a British citizen. reality TV icon Katie Price.

The influencer and former glamour model failed to attend a bankruptcy court hearing on Tuesday, despite being given “very clear warnings” that she must appear. This led to Insolvency and Companies Court judge Catherine Burton issuing a warrant for her arrest.

Price is known for reality shows such as Katie and Peter and Katie Price: My crazy lifefor appearing in the fifteenth season of Big Brother UK and as a regular panellist on ITV’s daytime programme Loose women.

She was initially best known publicly as a glamour model, but has also written several autobiographies, novels and children’s books, and has had other business ventures. However, she filed for bankruptcy for the first time in 2019 before filing for another over an unpaid tax bill of more than £760,000 ($900,000).

Price was served with a debt repayment demand from government body HM Revenue & Customs (HMRC) in October last year.

According to the BBC, a court heard she had failed to respond to HMRC and had given no reason for her absence at this week’s hearing.

“In my view, it is necessary for the court to issue a warrant for Ms Price’s arrest,” Judge Burton said. “She has no real excuse for not attending today’s hearing. The reason for her absence today is irrelevant.”
