Grown men sobbed when they saw Hugh Jackman dressed as Wolverine

Hugh Jackman I spent almost 20 years doing Glutton and X-Men movies for Fox. In that time, he did a lot of things. He fought mutants. He made cameos. He traveled through time. He fought in multiple wars throughout history. He fought a mouthless Deadpool. He got shot in the head with an amnesia bullet that time. It was a lot.

But he never did one of the most basic things you’d think any Wolverine would do. He never wore anything that even remotely resembled Wolverine’s signature yellow and blue suit. The suit almost made a cameo in Badger; Even the scene where he spied the costume in a briefcase was filmed. But Jackman never put it on, until From Marvel Deadpool and Wolverine.

According Deadpool and Wolverine The executive producer (via HeyUGuys) said that seeing Jackman put on the Wolverine costume for the first time was a big deal even for cynical and jaded Hollywood crew members. In an interview, she described her reaction to seeing Jackman in costume for the first time as “one of the craziest things,” and it even made grown men cry.

As she described it…

It was the screen test before we started shooting. Seeing those two guys, first of all, in costume together was mind-blowing, but when Hugh came out in the yellow and blue suit, there were grown men crying on the set. So we knew it was something special, very special.

I can’t say I cried seeing Jackman in tiger stripes. But he looks good in the suit! It’s downright absurd that he’s done seven of these movies (plus cameos!) and never worn it once. Just as good as the first ones. X Men The movies could be weird at times, but they were also weird, and their stubborn refusal to put characters in superhero costumes was definitely one of their weirdest elements. But I guess that’s what happens when The director of your superhero movie refuses to allow superhero comics on set.
