A day after a disgruntled Kanye West fan leaked a version from his new album, Be the great has announced the upcoming release of his sixth solo album “Better Me Than You,” due August 9th on Def Jam.
The rapper, who acknowledged the leak last night by posting a snippet of a track produced by Alchemist, released a new single called “Yes” tonight alongside the album announcement, giving a sneak peek of what to expect from the project.
Unfortunately, the project has already been surrounded by drama after Sean gave his “On the Radar Freestyle” a few days ago, where he rapped, “I got better things to do than find someone to fight with.” Some social media users claimed it was a dig at Kendrick Lamar. But soon after, media personality DJ Hed tweeted that he spoke to Sean, who told him the bar wasn’t meant for Lamar, but rather a “different Gemini.”
According to the leaker, that was Kanye West, who helped launch Sean’s career at the time. The two have had recent public beef, with West claiming in 2021 that signing Sean to his GOOD Music label was “the worst thing I’ve ever done.”
The leaker claimed that they released the album due to Sean’s lack of respect. But Sean rejected the idea that the leaker released the 14-song album on West’s orders. “I know [West] “I wouldn’t do that, because that’s trash, I know he wouldn’t do shit like that,” Sean said live on social media today. “So whoever did that, I just want them to know that they f**ked me up.”
The leak, obtained by VarietyIt features 14 tracks and guest appearances from what appear to be Nas, Charlie Wilson, and Brent Faiyaz. The album sounds unfinished, with gaps left for potential new verses. The leaker claimed the title of the leaked album was “Feelings & Random Thots” and suggested an alternate title would be “Better Me Than You,” which turned out to be the actual title.
