Tamayo PerrySurfing legend known for appearing in the fourth ‘Pirates of the Caribbean’ movie, has died… authorities have confirmed it.
The famous surfer died on Sunday following a shark attack in Oahu, Hawaii… when Tamayo’s body was found by local surfers on Mālaekahana Beach. According to Stab Magazine, TP was missing his arm and leg when they recovered his body.
Honolulu emergency services say a passerby witnessed the attack near Goat Island on Oahu’s famous north shore.
Tamayo, who also worked as an ocean safety lifeguard, was reportedly taking a break from his duties when the incident occurred around 1 p.m.
Authorities confirm Tamayo was pronounced dead at the scene… with the mayor of Honolulu Rick Blangiardi He later praised the late surfer as “a legendary boatman.” Tamayo won the famous Pipeline Masters surf competition in 1999.
Kurt LagerHonolulu’s chief of ocean security, expressed a similar sentiment… adding that “Tamayo’s personality was infectious and as much as people loved him, he loved everyone else more.”
In addition to his role as a buccaneer in “Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides,” Tamayo had small roles in the sports romance film “Blue Crush” and the CBS reboot of “Hawaii Five-0.”
Tamayo is survived by his wife, emilia. She was only 49 years old.
