‘Memoirs of a Snail’ by Adam Elliot wins the Annecy Cristal Prize


Oscar-winning Australian director Adam Elliott stop motion movie Memories of a snail has won the highest Cristal award for best feature film at the Annecy International Animated Film Festival.

The film brings together a stellar cast led by Succession star sara snookwho lends her voice to the protagonist Grace Puddle, a young woman with a difficult life story who finds solace in hoarding snail memories.

Memories of a snail is Elliot’s second feature film after the 2009 animation. Maria and Maxand Oscar-winning short film in 2004 Harvey Krumpet.

In other awards in the main competition, Japanese director Shinnosuke Yakuwa Totto-Chan: The girl in the window won the Paul Grimault award and the Latvian filmmaker Gints Zilbalodis Flow was awarded the Jury Prize.

In the Contrechamp competition, aimed at feature films that push the limits of animated storytelling, the Contrechamp Grand Prix went to the feminist drama by Spanish filmmaker Isabel Herguera Sultana’s dreamand Czech director Kristina Dufková won the Contrechamp jury prize for living largeabout a young man harassed by his weight who decides to change his life.
