There has been a lot of talk in recent years about a film based on a British series.Peaky Blinders‘, which had a bit of success in the United States thanks to its Netflix deal.
Now, the crime series, based on the exploits of a gang in 1900s England, is officially getting the movie treatment via Netflix, and the streaming service has greenlit the project.
Recent ‘oppenheimer‘Oscar winner Cillian Murphy will reprise his role as Tommy Shelby and produce the film alongside the show’s creator (and film writer) Steven Caballero.
british director Tom Harper (who actually handled the second half of the show’s first season), will call the shots starting later this year.

What is the story of ‘Peaky Blinders’?

The series, which began on Britain’s BBC Two in 2013, is a crime drama centered on a family of mixed origins of Irish and Romani travelers based in Birmingham, England, which began in 1919, several months after the end of the First World War.
It is named after the Peaky Blinders street gang and their ambitious and cunning crime boss Shelby. Since then, the show has run for six seasons.
Netflix, seeing the opportunity to acquire a beloved series, secured the rights in 2014 and has since won multiple awards.
In case you’re wondering, the “peak blinders” referred to the gang’s sartorial efforts. distinctive fashion sense, including colorful clothing and peaked newsboy caps. At the time, “peaky” was a common term for flat peaked caps, and “blinder” was a Birmingham slang term for someone who looked sharp. In less legal terms, they were also famous for lowering the brim of their caps when attacking someone so as not to be recognized.
What will the movie ‘Peaky Blinders’ be about?

The last time we saw Tommy Shelby, he had killed his cousin Michael (finnish cole) and rode off into the sunset on a white steed after handing over the reins of the family business to his sister Ada (Sofia Rundle).
Nothing has been officially released about the film’s plot yet, although Knight has previously suggested that it will chronicle the gang’s efforts during World War II.

“Looks like Tommy Shelby wasn’t done with me. It is very gratifying to collaborate again with Steven Knight and Tom Harper on the film version of ‘Peaky Blinders’. “This one is for the fans.”
This is what Harper said:
“When I first directed ‘Peaky Blinders’ more than 10 years ago, we didn’t know what the series would become, but we did know there was something about the alchemy of the cast and the writing that seemed explosive. ‘Peaky’ has always been a story about family, so it’s incredibly exciting to reunite with Steve and Cillian to bring the film to audiences around the world on Netflix.”

“I’m really excited that this movie is about to be made. It will be an explosive chapter in the history of ‘Peaky Blinders’. There are no restrictions. “Peaky Blinders in the middle of war.”
When will the movie ‘Peaky Blinders’ be on screens?
Netflix has yet to confirm the film’s theatrical release or release date on its servers.
